About the Yellow Magpies
Yellow Magpies is a youthful new theatre company based in Edinburgh. We began life in 2014 with the aim of creating work which feels immediate and relevant to the world around us.
We collect the shiniest and best things we can find and use them to tell stories that are sometimes made-up, sometimes political and sometimes silly, but always important.

We take inspiration and input from anything and anyone we can. Occasionally, we even ask our audiences to help us.

Our eclectic background and varying areas of expertise mean that we can strive to make work that is truly diverse. We play with music, movement, dance, poetry and text; whilst retaining a strong visual identity. This all comes together to tell our stories creatively and engagingly.

Alongside this, we also have a huge interest in creating and engaging with work that has a social or political relevancy. We strongly believe that theatre can be an incredibly effective vehicle for societal change. Ensuring that theatre is accessible is crucial, so working with groups that don't often engage with theatre or go to see shows is something we think is very important.

All in all, we'll do everything we can to make sure our audiences are always on the edge of their seats.
